Shuzo Takiguchi (1903-1979), known for introducing Surrealism to Japan, was a remarkable poet and art critic who continually promoted the true spirit of the avant-garde. He was surrounded by large numbers of artists from Japan and from overseas. This exhibition showcases the many works of art that Takiguchi acquired from these artists and preserved in his own home. The exhibition, Drifting Objects on Dreams," is based on the Shuzo Takiguchi Collection in the Museum of Modern Art, Toyama. It shows the work of artists who were contemporaries of Takiguchi and engaged in a creative dialogue with him, reexamining the free and energetic interchange that took place between them. The artists represented include Duchamp, Miro, Michaux, Shusaku Arakawa, Mitsuo Kano, and Natsuyuki Nakanishi."
