The painter KIYOKAWA Taiji (1919-2000) explored unique abstract expressions that could not have been realized by simply reproducing a subject. Beginning in the 1970s, Kiyokawa focused on compositions made up of white canvases and gray lines, and juxtapositions of lucid colors and forms executed in acrylic paint. During the same period, the artist devoted himself to textile designs. In this exhibition, we introduce Kiyokawa’s paintings and textile designs, which display similarities in terms of their lines and colors.
